Afghanistan Letter Is A Hoax

The letter from the soldier in Afghanistan regarding Senator Obama's visit is a hoax. As such I have deleted it from this blog. Sorry about the misinformation and thanks to wilson4s for pointing it out. Check out http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/afghanistan.asp for more information about the hoax.

Good catch Dan. I may despise Barack Obama, but I'd prefer he lose for what he really did not what someone made up.

Interesting to watch how this all played out.

The soldier did write the email.
Then under pressure from the military since it's illegal to have done so, he retracts it.

I got the email from his wife this morning, call it first edition.

There's no doubt that Obama dissed the soldiers and the military is telling this guy to retract or else.

If the source will step forward with verifiable contact information I'd love to publish that -- but not until then. It'd be interesting to see local media such as Jerry Davich get involved....

Wow, was that totally irresponsible of you to publish that letter in the first place. How naive are you to actually think that was true? Are you that desperate for a Republican win? People have totally lost their sense of right and wrong.

Anonymous, the author who published that article had reason to believe that it was true, because it came from a reliable source. As human beings, we do make mistakes, and in this case we admitted our fault and corrected it.

In the mean time, while you go around leaving negative comments on several of our posts, are you man (or woman) enough to identify yourself? We place our names out on the line as we publish articles, but I suppose it's much easier to critique others under the guise of anonymity....
